Kolkata, June 8 -- A city police team on Monday searched a south west Kolkata flat linked to Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Swarup Biswas, who has been arrested on multiple charges including extortion, molestation and violation of the Arms Act.
The cops carried out the search at the flat in Sahapur Colony of Behala in presence of Swarup, the brother of former sports minister and TMC leader Arup Biswas. Swarup is the owner of the flat.
According to a senior Kolkata Police officer familiar with the case, the search was conducted at the flat to look for documents and purported evidence that can further strengthen their case against Swarup, who is in their custody.
The area around the flat was cordoned off during the raid.
