Kolkata, Aug. 18 -- An elderly woman was killed and several others injured after a portion of a three-storey dilapidated building collapsed in Jorabagan in north Kolkata in the early hours of Tuesday, triggering a rescue operation by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Kolkata Police.
The incident occurred at around 4 am when parts of the old structure that was in a crumbling state came crashing down with a loud noise.
The elderly woman living on the ground floor of the building, came under the debris. She was rescued and taken to Calcutta Medical College, where she was declared dead by the doctors.
