Kolkata, June 16 -- A police case has been registered against Trinamool Congress leader Swaroop Biswas for allegedly demanding Rs 80 lakh from a woman in exchange for securing her permission to set up a street food cart in a South Kolkata locality, an official said.
The complainant also alleged that Biswas, the brother of former West Bengal Minister Aroop Biswas, made indeceent gestures at her. Swaroop Biswas is already under arrest for alleged extortion and other charges.
Based on the complaint, a case has been started at the New Alipore Police Station.
Police stated that the woman, residing in the Regent Park area, lodged a written complaint at the New Alipore Police Station on June 14.
