Kolhapur, May 8 -- Former Thane Municipal Corporation Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Aher, who was absconding after a case of sexual assault was registered against him, was arrested by Kolhapur police from Narande (Hatkanangle taluka).
The Thane Crime Branch had dispatched teams to various places to search for Aher.
After the local crime branch received information that he was hiding in a hotel in Narande, they raided and arrested him.
Aher will be produced before the Thane court.
Another shocking fact in this case is that the name of a Nashik-based fraudster 'Ashok Kharat' has also come to the fore.
It has also been alleged that the complainant woman was taken to Nashik and subjected to abhorrent acts.
