Kolhapur, Sept. 12 -- Thousands of people gathered in Nandani village in Shirol tehsil of this district to give an emotional welcome to the beloved elephant Madhuri (also known as Mahadevi), as she returned to her original home from Vantara facility in Jamnagar Gujarat late on Friday night.
After spending nearly a year receiving medical treatment for foot rot and arthritis at Vantara, a high-level committee, including the Maharashtra government, the Nandani Math and Vantara officials, cleared her safe return.
She departed from Gujarat on Thursday, and was brought back to Kolhapur to participate in the upcoming events to mark the 71st death anniversary of Acharya Shantisagarji Maharaj at the Nandani Math.
