Kolhapur, July 4 -- With the rapidly increasing water level of all rivers, including the main Panchganga, following continued heavy rainfall for the last two days in all parts of the district, the district disaster management has completed preparations for possible floods and called an NDRF team which arrived this evening.
After the dry month of June, heavy rains in the district in the first week of July has increased the inflow of water in rivers, streams and dams.
There has been heavy rain in Gaganbawada, and a total of 20 'Bandharas' (weirs) in the district have gone under water.
Meanwhile, water has entered Gadhinglaj, Ajra, Amboli and the national road from Kolhapur to Gaganbawada, disrupting traffic.
