Bengaluru, Aug. 22 -- The proposed elections to the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) and Apex Bank are set to reopen an internal power contest within the ruling Congress, with the camps of Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah preparing to test their strength in two influential cooperative institutions.

The elections, which have been pending for nearly a year, are likely to be set in motion after the ongoing monsoon session, with Cooperation Minister Laxman Savadi indicating that notices could be issued on Monday.

Savadi said the election process would require a seven-day clear notice, following which the office-bearers of the two institutions would be elected.
