New Delhi, May 19 -- Indian Railways has approved the 54-km Kiul-Jhajha third line project at an estimated cost of Rs 962 crore to enhance capacity and improve operational efficiency on the high-density Howrah-Delhi rail corridor.
The project, sanctioned under the High Traffic Density Network of Indian Railways, is aimed at strengthening both passenger and freight movement across Eastern and Northern India while easing congestion on one of the country's busiest rail routes.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project would significantly improve rail capacity on the heavily utilised corridor and enhance punctuality and operational flexibility of train services.
