Mumbai, May 17 -- BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Sunday objected to the practice of open animal sacrifice during Eid al-Adha (also known as Bakrid or the "Festival of Sacrifice") and demanded strict action against violations in Mumbai.
In a letter addressed to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Somaiya sought a ban on open sacrifices during Eid al-Adha and questioned whether action would be taken this year against such activities.
