New Delhi, Aug. 21 -- Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday stepped up his attack on the Centre over alleged police excesses against student protesters, questioning union Home Minister Amit Shah's silence over the injuries suffered by student protester Sahil Lochab and demanding accountability for the alleged use of pellet guns.
Kharge alleged that Shah remained absent from Parliament for 19 days without explaining who authorised the use of pellet guns against protesting students or why such force was considered necessary.
