Bengaluru, May 22 -- Senior BJP leader and party National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal on Thursday alleged that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge is eying the Karnataka Chief Minister's post amid an intensifying power struggle within the ruling Congress in the state.

Projecting the Congress as a party caught in internal rivalry, Agarwal claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Kharge were all engaged in a contest for control over the state's top political position.

Speaking to reporters here, the BJP leader alleged that the internal leadership tussle had affected governance in Karnataka and claimed the government had become "non-functional" over the past several months.
