New Delhi, Aug. 3 -- Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday mounted a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging that the government had used force against students protesting examination-related issues and was avoiding accountability in Parliament.

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Kharge said it was the Prime Minister, and not the Opposition, who owed an apology to the country's youth.

"It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who should apologise for the lathi-charge and the use of pellet guns against the youth. Instead of coming to Parliament, he is trying to intimidate and threaten students," Kharge said.
