Nashik, June 7 -- Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced in Nagpur on Saturday the decision to stay the current draft of the proposed 'Maharashtra Devasthan Inam Abolition Act, 2026'-intended to protect the rights of Devasthans (temple trusts) in Maharashtra and remove encroachments on their lands-and to establish a high-level committee chaired by Vikas Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department, to prepare a revised draft.
He said that citizens and Devasthan authorities will be able to register their objections regarding this revised draft at the District Collector's office until September 15, 2026.
