Thiruvananthapuram, July 22 -- The service charges for KFON internet connectivity provided to schools do not constitute a new financial liability imposed by the present government, according to government sources here on Wednesday.
The sources said the existing provisions governing the KFON project have, from its inception, clearly stipulated that institutions, including government and aided schools, are responsible for bearing the applicable service charges.
In 2024, the Electronics and Information Technology (E&IT) Department, through a government order, directed government and educational institutions to avail themselves of KFON internet services and bear the associated service charges.
