Thiruvananthapuram, June 5 -- Kerala will strengthen and expand its globally acclaimed Responsible Tourism initiatives through improved hospitality standards, sustainable practices and greater collaboration between the government and private sector, Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh has said.

He also indicated that the state government is actively considering the long-pending demand to grant industry status to tourism and that the sector will receive due attention in the upcoming state budget.

The minister was inaugurating the second edition of the Global Travel Market (GTM) 2026 and the Metro Expedition-GTM Tourism Awards 2026 at The Leela Kovalam.
