Thiruvananthapuram, June 17 -- The Kerala government will retain full control over curriculum decisions and the selection of schools under the PM SHRI scheme, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan announced after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

To safeguard the state's interests in implementing the centrally sponsored programme, the Cabinet has constituted a ministerial sub-committee headed by Education Minister N. Shamsuddeen. Ministers Roji M. John, P.C. Vishnunath and M. Liju will serve as members.

The Chief Minister said Kerala remains part of the PM SHRI scheme and will ensure that its rights are fully protected. The state has already received more than Rs 99 crore under the scheme, while an additional Rs 106 crore has been sanctioned.
