Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 6 -- Kerala will usher in one of the most significant reforms in its policing system with the launch of the 'My Police Station' initiative from August 15, under which Sub-Inspectors (SIs) will become Station House Officers (SHOs) in the majority of police stations, replacing the previous system of appointing Circle Inspectors (CIs) as SHOs, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala announced on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference here, the Minister described the initiative as a historic transformation aimed at making the Kerala Police a truly people-centric force by ensuring democratic, transparent and citizen-friendly policing.
