Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 29 -- The Kerala government will accord industry status to the tourism sector by October as part of a major structural reform aimed at attracting investments and strengthening the state's tourism infrastructure.
Tourism, Culture and Cinema Minister P C Vishnunadh has made the announcement during his visit to Kanakakkunnu Palace, the main venue of the ongoing Onam Tourism Week celebrations in the state capital.
He said the draft proposal for granting industry status to tourism has already been prepared and consultations with stakeholders in the sector are currently under way.
