Thiruvananthapuram, May 21 -- The first sitting of the 16th Kerala Legislative Assembly commenced at 9 am on Thursday at the Legislative Assembly complex here, with newly elected members taking oath of office under the supervision of Pro-tem Speaker G. Sudhakaran.
The legislators were sworn in alphabetically in a ceremony attended by Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, Opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan, and members of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF), the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the NDA. The session formally marked the constitution of the new Assembly following the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections.
