Thiruvananthapuram, May 3 -- Kerala registered an overall voter turnout of 79.70 per cent in the recently concluded Assembly elections, with the final percentage to be updated after incorporating service votes, Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U. Kelkar said.
According to official figures, 58,984 service votes were issued, of which 20,028 have been received so far (as of May 1). These votes will be added to the total before declaring the final polling percentage.
The delay in releasing the consolidated turnout figure had triggered criticism, prompting the Election Commission to publish updated data on the eve of counting.
