Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 20 -- The Kerala Railway Police have stepped up security at railway stations and aboard trains across the state ahead of the Onam festival, with intensified surveillance and inspections planned to ensure the safety of passengers.

Under the "Safe Journey, Secure Journey" initiative, the Railway Police will conduct joint inspections with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from August 17 to 30. Special checks will be carried out on trains arriving from other states to prevent the transportation of illicit liquor, narcotic substances and unaccounted cash.
