Thiruvananthapuram, July 5 -- Kerala Police has alerted business establishments across the state to a new WhatsApp-based cyber fraud targeting companies' finance and accounts departments through compromised customer and supplier accounts.
According to the police, fraudsters hack the WhatsApp accounts of customers or suppliers who regularly conduct financial transactions with a business and use them to send malicious files disguised as "Account Statement" documents.
These files, often carrying dangerous extensions such as .vbs, install malware when opened, enabling hackers to gain complete control of the victim's computer.
