Thiruvananthapuram, April 7 -- The Kerala BJP has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the alleged diversion of Rs2,899.35 crore from various labour welfare fund boards, funds meant for the benefit of poor workers.

Raising the issue, BJP State General Secretary Adv. S. Suresh called upon the State Labour Ministry to respond to the allegations, questioning how such a large sum earmarked for workers' welfare, including pensions, was reallocated and spent.

Suresh also accused the state government of failing workers by leaving pension dues pending, and held both the Chief Minister and the Labour Minister accountable. The BJP cited Right to Information (RTI) documents to back its claims, intensifying its attack on the government.
