Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 11 -- The Kerala Food Safety Department has banned the stocking, sale and distribution of 'Kera Diamond' brand coconut oil after samples of the product were found to be substandard and the manufacturing address printed on its packets was found to be fake.

The District Food Safety Assistant Commissioner said samples of the coconut oil were collected by the Food Safety Circles in Kunnathur and Chadayamangalam and sent to the Government Analytical Laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram for examination. The samples were found to be of substandard quality.
