Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 -- Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has expressed regret over his inability to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Kerala Chief Minister-designate V. D. Satheesan, citing prior professional and academic commitments in the United States.

In a message shared ahead of the ceremony, Tharoor said he was "sorry to be missing" the swearing-in of his Indian National Congress-Kerala colleague, noting that he was currently in Boston to deliver the commencement address at the graduation ceremony of his alma mater, the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University, as well as to attend the 50th anniversary reunion of his graduating class.
