Thiruvananthapuram, May 20 -- The Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, popularly known by its brand name Milma, has decided to increase the price of milk by Rs 4 per litre with effect from June 1, citing a sharp rise in production and operational costs affecting dairy farmers across the state.
The decision was approved at a meeting of the Milma Board held in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
According to Milma, out of the Rs 4 hike, Rs 3.35 - amounting to 83.75 per cent of the increase - will directly benefit dairy farmers, while dairy cooperative societies will receive 25 paise per litre.
