Kochi, May 25 -- In a landmark judgment in the Attappadi Madhu lynching case that shook Kerala's conscience, the Kerala High Court today enhanced the sentence of 12 convicts from seven years' imprisonment to life imprisonment, observing the gravity and brutality of the mob killing of a tribal youth accused of theft.
A Division Bench, comprising Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar, delivered the verdict while allowing the appeals filed by Madhu's mother Malli and the Kerala government seeking stricter punishment for the convicts.
