Thiruvananthapuram, April 8 -- AICC General Secretary and MP, K.C. Venugopal, today demanded stringent action from the Election Commission after visuals allegedly showed BJP workers distributing cash to voters in Palakkad, terming it a "grave violation" of election rules.
He said giving money to influence voters strikes at the core of free and fair elections and questioned the Commission's response despite what he described as "open distribution" of cash by the BJP.
Venugopal alleged that the party's "money power" was visible across Kerala and claimed similar practices had come to his notice in Alappuzha as well. He added that such incidents were "routine" in constituencies the BJP considers its priority segments.
