Kendrapara, April 19 -- The Ad-hoc Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Fast Track Special Court in Kendrapara has convicted an auto-rickshaw driver and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old girl on August 11,2024.
The convict, identified as Pratap Malik alias Bodhia of Kathiapada, was found guilty under Sections 65(2) and 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
According to the case records, the incident came to light after the victim's mother lodged an FIR at Pattamundai Rural Police Station. The minor girl, a Class-II student of a private school, was subsequently taken to Pattamundai Sub-Divisional Hospital for medical examination.
