Bengaluru, May 22 -- The Karnataka government is weighing a move to the Supreme Court over the proposed Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, amid fears that the exercise could lead to large-scale deletion of genuine voters and undermine electoral transparency.

The issue figured prominently during Thursday's Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, with ministers discussing legal and administrative options to safeguard voter rights before the SIR process begins in the state next month.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil said the government would take a final decision within the next three to four days on whether to approach the apex court.
