Bengaluru, Aug. 11 -- The Karnataka government on Tuesday decided to approach the Supreme Court against the fresh direction by the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) to release 27,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, setting the stage for a fresh legal battle over the contentious river-sharing dispute. Earlier, the CWRC had last month directed the Karnataka government to release 3,500 cusecs of water to the neighbouring state.
The latest decision comes amid growing concern over reservoir storage levels and Karnataka's drinking water and irrigation requirements.
