Dharwad, Oct. 19 -- Farmers in north Karnataka on Monday temporarily suspended their statewide sugarcane agitation and proposed march towards Hubballi after discussions with union Minister Pralhad Joshi, giving the Centre and the state government until November 26 to address their demands.

Farmer leaders warned that the agitation would be intensified on November 27 if their demands remained unresolved, including a proposed gherao of Joshi's residence in Hubballi.

The decision followed a meeting between Joshi and farmer leaders Shashikant Guruji and Chunappa Pujari on Sunday night, after which representatives from various districts deliberated on the future course of the protest.
