Shivamogga, July 5 -- Karnataka Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Sunday announced that the Congress government has set a 2028 deadline for completing the long-delayed Upper Bhadra Project, saying the ambitious irrigation scheme has entered a decisive phase after the resolution of key land acquisition hurdles.
Reviewing the progress of the project at Lakkavalli near Chikkamagaluru, Reddy said the state has already invested more than Rs 12,000 crore in the project, which is expected to transform irrigation and drinking water availability for over 74 lakh people across 12 taluks in Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Chitradurga and Tumakuru districts.
