Bengaluru, July 10 -- Karnataka has moved the Supreme Court seeking an extension till December 31 to conduct elections to the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), effectively seeking to push back the Bengaluru civic polls despite the apex court's earlier warning that no further extension would be granted.

The fresh plea assumes significance as the Supreme Court had, while granting the state a final extension till August 31, 2026, expressed strong displeasure over the repeated postponement of the long-pending civic elections and cautioned that the deadline would not be extended again.
