Chikkamagaluru, March 4 -- A young merchant navy seafarer from Karnataka has disappeared in West Asia, plunging his family into fear and uncertainty as the region reels from the escalating conflict between Iran and the US-Israel alliance.
Nishchit, originally from Hirekodige village in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, had been working in the merchant navy and was reported to be in Iran nearly six months after taking up the assignment. According to his parents, he last spoke to his father eight days ago and had said he was planning to travel next to Kuwait.
