Bengaluru, Aug. 23 -- The Karnataka government is preparing to declare drought in rain-deficit areas of the State and submit a report to the Centre by the end of August, as farmers face crop losses and difficulties due to inadequate rainfall, official sources said.
The Agriculture Department has already conducted field inspections in 175 taluks where crop damage and failure to undertake sowing have been reported. Officials have collected information from farmers and are preparing a detailed report for seeking drought relief.
