Mandya, March 11 -- The Srirangapatna police have solved the murder case of temple priest Siddalingappa (50), a resident of Maralagala village, whose body was recovered from a canal in Mandya district following his disappearance on March 6.

Police said initial investigations raised suspicion after the priest's sandals, bloodstains, scattered religious items, and his motorcycle were found near the canal.

Authorities revealed that Siddalingappa's wife, Shalini (32), was allegedly in an illicit relationship with truck driver MC Harisha (33). Shalini, along with Harisha and his two associates, M R Santosh Kumar (29) and B R Ganesh (29), reportedly conspired to kill the priest.
