Bengaluru, Sept. 15 -- Karnataka Police have intensified a major anti-Naxal operation in Tumakuru district, deploying drones and multiple special teams to track down suspected Naxal operative Uppar Venkatesh, who is believed to be hiding in the hill and forest terrain of Pavagada taluk.

The operation follows the recovery of a letter allegedly written by a suspected Naxal in a village in the region, triggering a detailed investigation and a large-scale combing operation across more than 10 villages around Kanakalabende.

Five special police teams, comprising a Deputy Superintendent of Police, five inspectors and 10 sub-inspectors, have been mobilised under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal to trace and arrest Venka...
