Bengaluru, July 25 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday sounded an early warning over the emerging drought situation in the state, saying most parts of Karnataka, barring the Almatti reservoir command area, were showing signs of water stress and that the government had initiated precautionary measures to avert a crisis.
Addressing reporters after a Bengaluru Division-level review meeting at Hiriyur in Chitradurga district, Shivakumar said the government was closely monitoring rainfall, water availability and crop conditions to ensure that farmers do not suffer losses and that there is no shortage of drinking water.
