Bengaluru, Aug. 25 -- The eight-day monsoon session of the Karnataka Legislature was largely washed out amid a confrontation between the ruling Congress and the Opposition over the demand for the resignation of Minister B Nagendra in connection with the alleged Valmiki Corporation scam.
The BJP and JD(S) repeatedly disrupted proceedings, insisting that Nagendra step down over the alleged Rs 87-crore irregularity in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. Despite repeated attempts by the Speaker and the government to restore order, the Opposition refused to relent, leaving little scope for substantive debate.
