Bengaluru, June 16 -- : The ruling Congress in Karnataka has decided to keep its MLAs at a resort near Bengaluru ahead of the June 18 Legislative Council (MLC) elections amid apprehensions of cross-voting in the closely contested polls.

The decision was taken following a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Tuesday. Party legislators are expected to stay at a resort near Wonderla amusement park on the outskirts of Bengaluru until polling day and will be taken directly to the Assembly for voting.

The move comes as political activity intensifies over the election to seven vacant seats in the Karnataka Legislative Council. A total of eight candidates are in the fray, making the contest highly competitive.
