Bengaluru, March 23 -- Karnataka, widely regarded as India's technology hub due to Bengaluru, lags behind states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in 5G population coverage, according to data presented in the Lok Sabha, highlighting gaps in the rollout of next-generation digital infrastructure.

Figures shared in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Communications show that 5G coverage in Karnataka stands at 79.92 per cent of the population, well below the national average of 86.18 per cent.

In comparison, Bihar has achieved 94.52 per cent coverage, while Uttar Pradesh stands at 85.25 per cent, highlighting a gap between technological reputation and on-ground connectivity.
