Bengaluru, June 24 -- In sharp oral observations, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday came down heavily on what it termed "blanket bail" granted in a serious POCSO case, indicating that it is inclined to set aside the anticipatory bail granted to a seer accused of sexual offences against minors.
The court was hearing a petition challenging the Sessions Court's May 2 order granting anticipatory bail to Vachanananda Swami, who has been booked under multiple provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The complainant has sought cancellation of the bail and a stay on the lower court order.
