Bengaluru, May 15 -- The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a writ petition challenging the imposition of an additional Rs 10,000 airfare charge on Haj pilgrims, observing that the petitioner was not a registered pilgrim and therefore lacked the locus standi to question the decision.

The petition had challenged a circular dated April 28 issued by the Haj Committee of India seeking an additional payment from pilgrims towards differential airfare for Haj 2026 in view of rising Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices linked to the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
