Bengaluru, July 15 -- Karnataka government has dropped the departmental inquiry against former Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda and two other senior IPS officers in the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede case, effectively giving them a clean chit more than a year after the tragedy that claimed 11 lives during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations.
A government order issued on Tuesday said the proceedings against former Police Commissioner B Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar Vikas and then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) Shekhar have been closed after examining their defence statements and the opinion of the administrative department.
