Bengaluru, July 24 -- In a significant public health intervention, the Karnataka Health Department has banned the feeding of pigeons in public and private places across the state, citing growing concerns over respiratory diseases and hygiene hazards caused by pigeon droppings and feathers.
The department, in a circular, directed all municipal corporations, including the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), and other urban and local bodies to strictly enforce the ban and initiate legal action against violators.
The order follows increasing concerns among health authorities over the proliferation of pigeons in urban areas and the potential spread of respiratory ailments linked to prolonged exposure to pigeon droppings and feathers.
