Bengaluru, July 18 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday convened an emergency Cabinet meeting for Sunday as the state grapples with an intensifying drought, declaring that all available reservoir water has been earmarked exclusively for drinking purposes and warning that no water can be spared for irrigation until storage levels improve.
The high-level meeting, scheduled for 3 pm, comes amid mounting concerns over rainfall deficiency, depleting reservoirs and growing rural distress across Karnataka.
Announcing the decision at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said the Cabinet would formulate the state's immediate drought response after reviewing the ground situation with Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of Zilla...
