Bengaluru, July 9 -- In a significant twist to Karnataka's high-profile Bitcoin scam, the CID Special Investigation Team (SIT) has effectively closed criminal proceedings against four police officers after the state Home Department declined to grant prosecution sanction, forcing investigators to file a B-report before a court.
The officers who have secured relief are Deputy Superintendent of Police Sridhar Poojar and Police Inspectors Chandradhar, D.M. Prashanth Babu and Lakshmi Kantaiah. With the mandatory government approval to prosecute public servants being denied, the officers have been dropped from the proposed chargesheet.
