Bengaluru, June 12 -- The Karnataka government has approved a free bus pass scheme for school and college students travelling on state-run transport services, extending the benefit across buses operated by Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), and Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC).
The decision is expected to benefit lakhs of students across the state, particularly those from rural and economically weaker sections who depend on public transport for commuting to schools, colleges, and training institutes.
