Panchkula, Sept. 29 -- The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a clerk posted in the tax branch of the Karnal Municipal Corporation after allegedly catching him red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for making a category-related correction in a property ID, an official spokesman said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Gaurav, was arrested by an ACB team at the new bus stand complex in Karnal while allegedly accepting the money from the complainant, the spokesman said. The entire bribe amount was recovered from the spot.
According to the ACB, the complainant's father, Dharambir, and mother, Paramjit Kaur, own a house whose property ID required a correction relating to its category.
